MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Latest on the aftermath of the killing of a black man by Milwaukee police that sparked two nights of violence (all times local):
2 p.m.
Nearly 2,000 people turned out at a church on Milwaukee's north side for the funeral of a man who died in a confrontation with police.
Sylville Smith's life was celebrated at Christian Faith Fellowship Church in a service that included remarks by the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
The 23-year-old Smith, who was black, was shot Aug. 13. Police said Smith was fleeing a traffic stop and had turned toward an officer with gun in hand when he was shot. A few hours after his death, protesters burned several buildings on the north side and skirmished with police.
Jackson called on police to release body-camera video that they have said backs up the officer's account of the shooting. Jackson said the community needs "to know what's on the tape."
He also called for healing and unity.
The state is investigating the shooting.

Gov. Scott Walker will send $4.5 million in aid to help an economically-disadvantaged area of Milwaukee create jobs, train workers and clean up blighted property.
Walker's announcement Friday is a response to unrest and violence in the Sherman Park neighborhood sparked by the police shooting of Sylville Smith Aug. 13. Community leaders say the frustration over unemployment and economic disparities underlie the destruction of property and violence that rocked the north side neighborhood for two nights following the shooting.
Walker cabinet members, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele (AYE'-blee) are joining the governor for the announcement just hours before Smith's family holds his funeral at Christian Faith Fellowship Church in Milwaukee.
