LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former Las Vegas-area school police officers have taken allegations of misconduct by an internal affairs officer to federal and state authorities, according to a newspaper report.

Three former officers told the Las Vegas Review-Journal (http://bit.ly/28WQb3U) they provided information to the FBI.

District Attorney Steve Wolfson acknowledged to The Associated Press on Friday that he received documents from the Clark County School District police union.

School Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky told the newspaper that district and Las Vegas police also were investigating.

Capt. Ken Young, a school police department spokesman, cited the ongoing probe and declined to comment.

The complaints follow an investigation of conduct by the school police internal investigator following a fatal crash in 2009 involving an 18-year-old driver who later pleaded guilty to drunken driving.

The teen was accused of consuming alcohol at a Thanksgiving holiday party at the home of a department worker.

In 2011, the parents of a university student killed in the crash sued the school district and eight police employees for negligence, including then-Chief Phil Arroyo. He resigned less than three months later.

The parents claimed there was an attempt to cover up ties between the school police department and the alleged underage drinking that led to their daughter's death.

The district reached a settlement last year with the parents and agreed to pay $75,000, the maximum amount allowed under state law.

The FBI declined comment, the Review-Journal said.

The agency recently charged another school district police officer with trying to cover up an attack on a student and a school staff member during a lunchroom scuffle.

The former officer, James Lescinsky, has pleaded not guilty. He has been suspended from his job.
