LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Nevada business linked to the law firm at the center of the Panama Papers leak has paid a state fine and dropped its clients.
The Nevada Secretary of State's Office says the staff member at Las Vegas-based M.F. Corporate Services filed paperwork Monday resigning as the registered agent for the 1,025 entities the business represented.
The business also paid a $10,000 fine for failing to maintain records required by state law.
A U.S. magistrate judge previously described M.F. Corporate Services as an agent for Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian law firm that set up offshore financial accounts and anonymous shell companies.
The secretary of state fined M.F. Corporate Services after investigators checked with the business twice in April and found records were incomplete for many of the entities it represented.
