BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Senate has approved legislation to bring the state's tax code in line with federal rules, a move estimated to cost Idaho roughly $46 million over two years. House lawmakers spiked a prior version of the legislation earlier this year after objecting to the bill's removal of unenforceable language banning same-sex couples from filing joint tax returns.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho Girl Scouts would get a tax break on each box of Thin Mints under legislation introduced in a House committee. The House Revenue and Tax Committee introduced a bill today that would exempt Girl and Boy Scouts' food programs from the state sales tax.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A county in southwestern Idaho has updated its voting equipment in anticipation of the 2016 presidential election. The Idaho Statesman reports that voters in Boise and other Ada County locations will still receive a paper ballot, but there will now be ballot counting machines at each precinct. Previously, ballots were counted at a central location.

HANSEN, Idaho (AP) — Students at a south-central Idaho school district are having a long weekend after a broken pipe caused flooding at the high school. KTVB-TV reports the damage at the cafeteria at Hansen High School was in the cafeteria, the junior and elementary schools that share the cafeteria are also closed.
