LAS VEGAS (AP) — Hillary Clinton is planning campaign stops at a union training center and the Springs Preserve after tomorrow's Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas. Clinton is in Nevada for the first of six Democratic debates. Tuesday's matchup will be televised on CNN and hosted at the Wynn resort on the Las Vegas Strip.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers kicked off an effort today to divide the giant Clark County School District into several smaller precincts. Nine legislators from southern Nevada met in Las Vegas today. Superintendent Pat Skorkowsky said that creating precincts with more control over their budgets might help with the district's dire teacher shortage.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The highest-ranking member of the Nevada Legislature is endorsing Republican Marco Rubio for president. Republican Sen. Michael Roberson said it was time to turn the page on the ideas of yesterday and usher in Rubio's new vision. Roberson is seeking election to Nevada's 3rd Congressional District, which includes Henderson and Summerlin.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A group led by Republican Controller Ron Knecht has filed a petition seeking to repeal a new business tax backed by the Republican governor and most of the Legislature. A political action committee filed a petition with the Nevada Secretary of State on Thursday to repeal the commerce tax. Supporters need to gather more than 55,000 signatures statewide to put the measure on the ballot.
