NORTHFIELD, Vt. (AP) — The latest on the derailment of an Amtrak train in Vermont (all times local):
9 p.m.
Amtrak says a crew member on a train that slammed into rocks on a track in Vermont has non-life-threatening injuries. The crew member is hospitalized.
At least six other people were hurt when the Vermonter train from St. Albans to Washington, D.C., derailed Monday morning in Northfield, 20 miles southwest of Montpelier.
Officials say rocks from a ledge fell onto the track. Gov. Peter Shumlin says, "This was a freak of nature."
One locomotive and one passenger car went over an embankment. Three other cars left the track but remained upright.
Passenger Bob Redmond was taking a foliage tour in the third car when the train derailed. He says he looked outside the window and saw the car that had been ahead of his was alongside it.
Amtrak says Vermonter service will be modified Tuesday and Wednesday.

The railway companies that operate the stretch of tracks in Vermont where an Amtrak train derailed have had 54 accidents since 2006, including 14 derailments.
Authorities say the Amtrak train bound for Washington, D.C., derailed when it hit rocks on the track Monday morning. At least seven people were injured.
Federal records show New England Central Railroad has had four accidents since 2006 that could have involved debris on the tracks. Of the railroad's 54 accidents six occurred under the management of Genesee and Wyoming Railroad, which bought New England Central in 2012.
The accidents included highway grade-crossing incidents. Three people died in crashes: Two were trespassers. The third died in a grade-crossing accident.
Federal safety rules for tracks that carry passengers require at least two inspections every week.
Company officials haven't commented.

Officials say at least seven people were hurt, one seriously, when an Amtrak train derailed after hitting fallen rocks in Vermont.

One of the injured was airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. Six others went to Central Vermont Medical Center with injuries including neck, back and shoulder pain and lightheadedness.
Federal investigators are on the scene.

Passengers aboard an Amtrak train that derailed in Vermont say several people helped others get out of the train.
Bob Redmond, of Bay City, Michigan, was taking a foliage tour and sitting in the front row of the third car when the train derailed Monday morning. It wasn't immediately clear how many cars were on the train.
Redmond says he looked out the window and saw the car that had been ahead of his was now alongside him. Redmond says the cars started tipping and "down we went."
Bay City resident Tracy Zaplitny says she and other passengers broke a window to get out.
Passengers helped others out after the crash. Redmond got out of his car first, and he and others started helping people off the train.

A hospital executive says six people are in the emergency room after an Amtrak train derailed in Vermont when it apparently hit rocks on the track.
Central Vermont Medical Center CEO Judy Tartaglia says the patients have injuries that are not life-threatening. They include neck, back and shoulder pain, lightheadedness and a wrist injury. She says she doesn't expect more patients.

At least several dozen passengers aboard an Amtrak train that derailed in central Vermont have been put on school buses to take them away from the scene.
Amtrak says the Vermonter train from St. Albans, Vermont, to Washington, D.C., derailed Monday morning near Roxbury, about 20 miles southwest of Montpelier. The railroad says the train "reportedly" struck a rock slide on the tracks.
The passengers were loaded onto buses to be taken to an armory near Norwich University.
Amtrak says there were no life-threatening injuries reported.

The 13-hour, 45-minute daily trip begins in St. Albans in northern Vermont. The route passes through cities including Burlington, Vermont, Springfield, Massachusetts, and New York, with D.C. as the final destination.
Vermont State Police and local fire and rescue agencies are responding. Numerous emergency vehicles are at the scene.

The train is supposed to pass through Burlington, Vermont, Springfield, Massachusetts, and New York before arriving in D.C.
Vermont State Police and local fire and rescue agencies are responding to the scene in Northfield, about 10 miles southwest of Montpelier. Numerous emergency vehicles are at the scene.
State police spokesman Scott Waterman says he has no information about injuries.
