BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The head of the Idaho Department of Commerce says he's stepping down by the end of the year.
Jeff Sayer told the Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/1YY2bmi) on Friday that he hasn't formed concrete plans but will pursue private business opportunities.
The 53-year-old Sayer was appointed in 2011 by Gov. Butch Otter. He was previously managing partner of an Idaho Falls business consultancy and president of a hospital.
Sayer lobbied for the Tax Reimbursement Incentive, a law to encourage companies offering higher-than-average wages to relocate to Idaho or to expand operations already in the state. The law allows companies meeting wage and job-creation thresholds to be reimbursed up to 30 percent of income, payroll and sales tax for up to 15 years.
Otter will accept applications for Sayer's replacement until Nov. 1.
