LAS VEGAS (AP) — Clark County residents could see their sales taxes rise next year if officials approve a proposal aimed at expanding the police force. The county commission is are expected to vote today on the so-called More Cops proposal, which would raise the county's sales tax rate from 8.1 percent to 8.15 percent. The Las Vegas Sun reports the latest version would allow Las Vegas police to hire another 133 officers, and would provide money for dozens more officers in Henderson, North Las Vegas, Mesquite and Boulder City.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — No one has been convicted yet, but that hasn't stopped the Mob Museum in Las Vegas from debuting an exhibit today highlighting corruption within FIFA, the world soccer organization. The exhibit is in the same building that chronicles Las Vegas' mob past.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A federal judge in North Dakota is allowing arguments over the scope of his injunction blocking a new rule that would give the federal government jurisdiction over some smaller waterways. The temporary injunction was requested by Nevada and 12 other states to stop the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers from regulating some small waterways under the Clean Water Act. The judge gave attorneys until this afternoon to file briefs on the issue.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A consultant hired to investigate the head of Nevada's higher education system says the chancellor didn't violate any ethical standards in handling a report about the state's community college system. Chancellor Dan Klaich was accused of inappropriately whitewashing a consultant's draft report that was critical of Nevada's community college system.
