SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's elections office says it has resolved a dispute over mail-in ballots that could have left voters in some Utah County cities casting ballots twice this November.

Five Utah County cities are conducting 2015 city elections entirely by mail, hoping it boosts voter participation.

But county officials worried higher turnout in those cities could give them more influence than other cities over a proposed county-wide tax increase that's also on the ballot.

They wanted voters in the five cities to mail in their city ballots but show up at the polls for the county tax proposal.

Utah's elections office announced Monday that the five cities will be allowed to put the tax question on their mail-in ballots after all.

Other cities will offer in-person voting but remind voters that they can request a mail-in ballot too.
