URBANA, Ill. (AP) — A Chicago-based financial firm is giving the University of Illinois $10 million to pay for a training center at the school's planned new medical school.
The university said Monday that Jump Trading's money will finance the Jump Simulation Center in Urbana. The center will train medical and engineering students to design and use new medical devices, medical simulation tools, bio-printing and -fabricating technology and technology intended to reach rural patients.
The new medical school will combine medical training with engineering.
Jump Trading last year provided $25 million for a new medical facility in Peoria connected to the university's Healthcare Engineering Systems Center.
The company also operates a facility in the university's Urbana-Champaign Research Park.
