CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval's tax plan is one step closer to becoming law after clearing another legislative hurdle. An Assembly committee voted to amend and pass the bill yesterday, sending it to the Assembly floor. The hybrid "Nevada Revenue Plan" raises the business license fee and ups the rate of the existing modified business tax, as proposed by Assembly Republicans.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A Nevada panel has revived and passed a measure that would change the state's presidential caucus to a primary election. The bill would allow national political party heads to change Nevada's current caucus system for selecting a presidential candidate to a primary election. Supporters say the change would increase voter turnout and avoid a confusing caucus process.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Republican Marco Rubio picked up a little Las Vegas pizazz and some money to help his presidential campaign. The Florida senator spent yesterday in Sin City with the star of the reality show "Pawn Stars." Rick Harrison hosted a 44th birthday party for Rubio at his house after giving the Senator a tour of his pawn shop before a clutch of reporters. Rubio spent six years of his childhood in Las Vegas.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A bankruptcy judge says Caesars Entertainment Operating Co. has until Nov. 15 to file a reorganization plan and until Jan. 15, 2016 to get its creditors on board. The company had asked the judge to extend its time to file citing the complexity of the case and the court granted the request. The debt-heavy unit of the casino giant filed for bankruptcy in January to rid itself of most of its $18.4 billion in debt.
