VALHALLA, N.Y. (AP) — Metro-North Railroad has heard from nearly three dozen potential plaintiffs who intend to sue over a deadly train collision that killed six people.
The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/1FNVZoC ) the railroad was notified of 34 potential suits.
Monday was the last day for people to file a notice of claim.
The family of the SUV driver involved in the collision was among those who planned to sue. Ellen Brody's family says the February collision was caused by a hazardous railroad crossing in Valhalla. Their attorney says a badly designed railroad crossing and poor sight lines were to blame.
Mount Pleasant says it received 27 notices. Town Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi says it's unclear how much the claims seek.
The newspaper reported earlier this week that Metro-North didn't respond to requests for comment.
