MONROE, Ohio (AP) — A chemical explosion at a manufacturing plant in southwest Ohio has injured a worker.
Fire and police officials in Monroe say the explosion at Alfrebro LLC occurred Friday afternoon. Monroe fire Chief John Centers says the worker was burned on his face and neck and was flown to a hospital in Dayton. The worker's condition is unknown.
The fire chief says the explosion occurred as the worker was transferring a chemical from a 55-gallon drum into a larger container. He doesn't know the cause of the blast.
A message seeking comment from Alfrebro hasn't been returned.
The company's website says it manufactures natural and synthetic aroma chemicals, extracts and distillates.
