ATHENS, Ala. (AP) — The Tennessee Valley Authority says a worker at a north Alabama nuclear plant suffered cuts and radiation exposure after a fall at the plant.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/1yf6lGT ) that TVA said the worker received "minor amount of radiological contamination" Wednesday after he fell about five feet and cut his forehead at the Browns Ferry plant.
TVA spokesman Jim Hopson says the worker was inspecting the dry well as part of a planned refueling outage in the plant's Unit 2 reactor. The refueling outage began March 13. The dry well is in a layer that surrounds the reactor.
TVA says the man was "successfully decontaminated" and was listed in stable condition at Decatur Morgan General Hospital.
Browns Ferry has three nuclear reactors and is TVA's largest nuclear plant.
