LAS VEGAS (AP) — A pet shop owner is pleading not guilty to fraud and attempted theft charges in a fire at a Las Vegas pet shop where 27 puppies and dogs were rescued by firefighters. Records show Gloria Lee entered her pleas yesterday in Clark County District Court. Lee and co-defendant Kirk Bills previously pleaded not guilty to arson, animal cruelty and other charges.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The principal and two other administrators at Kelly Elementary School in Las Vegas have been placed on leave after state investigation found that someone made corrections on test answer sheets at Kelly Elementary School in Las Vegas. The state started investigating after the low-performing school submitted scores showing dramatic improvement from one year to the next.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee says a $441 million budget will but the city on a firm financial footing and avoid the prospect of a state takeover. The city reached tentative agreements last week with key employee unions to overcome a projected budget deficit of nearly $18 million. The budget must still be approved by the city council.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Washoe County election officials say Tony Perri's name will remain on the primary ballot for mayor of Reno despite his death earlier this week. Washoe County Registrar Luanne Cutler tells the Reno Gazette-Journal that notices will be posted at polling locations informing voters of Perri's death. Perri was found dead in his apartment on Monday. He was 48 years old.
