PAYSON -- At Jennie Larsen's house in Payson, the family doesn't talk turkey on Thanksgiving. It's all about getting ready for the biggest shopping day of the year.
"Shopping on Black Friday is like the Super Bowl for us, what it is to guys, that's how it is to us," Larsen said.
It's a family tradition that kicks off the holiday season; one they've been perfecting for years.
"The second year I went, we went with a group of girls, and we stood in front of Walmart. This was before it was open for 24 hours, and they opened the doors, and we literally didn't have a clue what we were in for," Larsen said.
Now, after dinner, the family spends hours scouring the ads and strategizing a game plan so they can be the first to snag the doorbuster deals.
"We usually leave around 2:00 in the morning," said Larsen's sister, Nicole Ramirez.
"It's just a big tradition as anything," Larsen said.
And tradition evolved into a business venture. This year, the sisters wanted to express their love for Black Friday by giving personalized shirts as gifts. When they couldn't find any they liked, they made their own.
"There was nothing cute or fun to wear, and we just wanted to step up our game, get in the spirit," Ramirez said.
They designed a "Black Friday Forever" logo to put on shirts, sweatshirts and hats. Since September, when they started their business, the items have caught the attention of other serious Black Friday shoppers. Their items and shopping tips can be found on blackfridayapparel.blo gspot.com. The sisters plan to offer mens' clothes in the future.
"It's amazing because the people that love Black Friday, they love it. They're just like, ‘Oh my gosh, it's about time. I can't believe nobody's ever come out with Black Friday apparel,'" Larsen said.
The sisters also share advice on how to get the best deals, like making at- a-glance sheets, which list the stores' names and items they want to buy.
"If you really are going to get good deals and not just have fun, I would say strategize beforehand," Ramires said.
That's how they survive Black Friday.
