PLEASANT GROVE -- A school in Utah County is replacing two swing sets on its playground after one collapsed when children were nearby.
It happened earlier this week at the John Hancock Charter School in Pleasant Grove.
Wendy Morgan, vice president of the school's board, saw it happen.
"I was worried about somebody getting impaled," Morgan said. "I could just see internal organs on the swing set."
School officials said the welds on the set failed, and the top bar, jagged metal and all, came crashing down. Two kids were nearby but were unharmed.
"It is concerning, but I also know the staff at the school and know that all it takes is one phone call and the kids will be taken care of," Morgan told KSL Newsradio Friday morning.
Morgan said workers came to the school to look at the set and discovered the welds on a second set were close to failing.
The swing set is being replaced, and tape has been placed around the area to keep children away.
