John Daley Reporting Believe it or not, it has been five years since Salt Lake City hosted the Olympic Winter Games.

It'll be five years exactly tomorrow since Rice-Eccles was crammed with people here for the Opening Ceremonies. At the stadium we still have the cauldron, the arch from the medals plaza and the Olympic museum which was built a year later.

A small group of dedicated volunteers is tending all the memories at the Olympic museum. First, they volunteered during the Olympics, doing things like driving athletes from the Olympic Village, or helping with security at the E Center or assisting in moving spectators at the Utah Olympic Park.

Now, they volunteer one eight-hour shift every other week. They've been doing it happily since the museum opened.

Of course, they still own and proudly wear the distinctive snowflake jackets.

Benjamin Paul Brown, Olympic Volunteer: "Still volunteering, still tearing up, still enjoying it."

Joyce Brown, Olympic Volunteer: "We don't light the fire, we keep the fire within. It's already lit. We just keep it burning."

Chris Minch, Olympic Volunteer: "What was the best part of it? I dunno. Just being there, knowing you're a part of history."

Dennis Minch, Olympic Volunteer: "When you do have somebody who was a volunteer and they say I was in such and such a place. It's instant friendship. Whether you had ever seen them before in your life, you've got a connection with them."

Another big impact: economic. Coming up tonight on Eyewitness News at 10:00, we'll tell you about one major measurable result of the Games.

Many people in Utah have fond memories from that time, and certainly the volunteers are still enthusiastic, five years later. I'm working on a special treat, a bit of a "where are they now," for tomorrow.
