MIDVALE -- The old Juntion Bowling Lanes in Midvale has been revamped and is now the new headquarters for a local business. The building is environmentally friendly, and the employees say they love it.
When School Improvement Network decided to renovate the old bowling alley, they wanted to be true to its roots.
"There's all this character--bricks, old metal and beams that are out there," says Chet Linton, CEO of School Improvement Network. "Rather than tear it down and fill a landfill, it's really a fantastic structure, and we could reuse it."
Back in February, the company started the remodel. Much of the original furnishing from the alley had been stolen, but there was still potential.
"We just felt when we saw this building we could use what had already been done. The structure was sound, and we could create an environment that employees could enjoy going to, that was different and not some cookie-cutter building that was out there," Linton says.
There's lots of rooms for workers so they aren't cramped, and they kept the ceilings high to give it an open feel.
"We also put skylights in so we could have natural light and make pleasant environment for employees," Linton says.
School Improvement Network works with local school to help students succeed. When the remodel started, Linton says they wanted to create an environment where his employees could succeed.
"Our employees love it. They feel good about being here," Linton says.
It took about nine months to turn the old alley into the new office space. Employees have already started working there.
