HOLLADAY -- Fire damaged an abandoned home, burned brush and threatened neighboring structures in Holladay Thursday night.

Crews arrived around 10 p.m. to find the house near 1600 East and 4500 South fully engulfed and flames spreading into the surrounding brush, threatening neighboring homes.

They called for a second alarm, sending in units from four firefighting agencies.

Capt. Clint Smith of the Unified Fire Authority said, "Thanks to a good, quick, coordinated attack, they were able to knock down the surrounding brush on fire and then focus on the structure."

Firefighters say the home is a complete loss. The fire burned about a half an acre of brush.

They're still trying to determine the cause.
