SALT LAKE CITY -- The battle over health care reform is coming to Utah with democrats targeting one of their own. They're going after Utah Congressman Jim Matheson, who does not support the current reform bill moving through Congress.
Members of the Blue Dog Democrats, including Matheson, have spoken out against the president's health care proposal, calling it too costly.
RNC chairman attacks Obama on health care The chairman of the Republican Party on Monday accused President Barack Obama of conducting "risky experimentation" with his health care proposals, saying they will hurt the economy and force millions to drop their current coverage.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that in response, the Democratic National Committee will run 30-second TV ads in states like Utah, to turn up the pressure.
The ads show people affected by the current health care system and say it is time for reform.
The ads had been playing in eight states where senators were considered swing votes, but now the focus is on members of the House.
The Energy and Commerce committee is expected to vote on the bill this week. The measure then would be combined with similar bills and go before the full House for a vote in the next few weeks.
