EnergySolutions Works to Distance Self from Old Name
You can see the new signs from blocks away and that's just the point. People will now be saying 'EnergySolutions' even if they don't know what the company is.

Noooooooo Controversial? You mean to tell me that buying a company that takes in radioactive pollution from all over the world and dumps it in a hole out west of the Great Salt Lake is controversial?

Mr. Orwell and I agree @steve p. - War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.

Envirocare is EnergySolutions.
Other states' radioactive waste is good for Utah.
Larry Miller is not a sell-out.

Newspeak is alive and well. It is transparent, however. Changing a name doesn't change what you do. Wishing something doesn't make it happen.

Mr. Miller - why are you becoming a part of this corporate charade?

Liar Energy Soulutions is a liar, everytime I hear their ads I want to puke!!

They say that they are doing us all a favor by disposing the waste in a responsible mannor; this may be true, but if you bring in crap from all over the world and park it in our back yard pretty soon the sun will never set over the west because we will have a glowing desert out there.

Lets go to the dump and watch the Red Hot Jazz tonight?

Strategic Partnership? If Larry Miller considers Envirocare/Energy Solutions to be a strategic partnership, then I will not support Larry Miller businesses (Larry H. Miller Auto Group, Delta Center/Jazz events, Larry H. MIller Management Co. (Megaplex) Movie Theaters, Rocky Mountain Raceway/Mead, CO Miller Motorsports Park/Tooele, et al). It would be the same as supporting the exploitation of the Goshutes (or any other entity) in brining nuclear waste to Utah.

Embarrassment for Jazz and Utah I live in Tooele county and I am tired of seeing these warm and fuzzy commercials about a company that takes in radioactive wastes from all over the country and dumps it in my county. You can change your name, buy your association to wonderful sports organization but I'm not buying the program. I am ashamed of Larry Miller for being bought out. Why don't we just name it the HAZMAT CENTER. What a black eye for our wonderful state.

The real side of Larry Miller I think we are all seeing the real side for Larry. He puts on a front of being a person that cares about the community, but it is the money. Isn't Larry.

The of the Center should be a true name like The Nuke Waste Center, So we all know what we are supporting.

Dang it! @The truth - I wanted to be the first one to call it The Nuke Center, and you beat me to it. This whole thing was not thought completely through, and we are hearing the "fallout" now. Was there no focus group input here, or was this strictly an executive blunder?

I always wondered what would happen if somehow a really funny name was offered up like, "The Depends Arena" or "The Tampax Center" or even "The Prozac Arena."

Who would have thought that it could really happen with such a controversial tie-in? I am shaking my head in disbelief along with many others.

@The truth - I know it is about business and maybe even freeing up some bucks so Delta can come out of bankruptcy as its own company. But to go with a company that has a bad rep is a question mark. I for one will pull a Prince job for quite some time--- the building formly known as the Delta Center.

Old Delta Center No question, Larry Miller is only interested in money. This re-name is atrocious and seems to represent what is going on in Utah for the last several years and today. We have been here for 13 years from New York and our assessment is that the state and the city have been steadily going down the toilet. New York was a pleasure conpared with what Utah has become the last decade.

not I I certainly won't be saying it. In fact, I have a hard time remembering the name... even after driving past the stupid signs every day on my way to work. The strategy stinks, just like the waste that is being sold to Utah. Long term partnership of Utah, long term exposure for Utahns. Take your millions of dollars and dump this stuff somewhere else. I know more about this company now, true, but I like it even less now that I know.

Help us Larry-H=Kanobi... you're our only hope.

if you are unhappy.... then I suggest everyone in Utah call the old Delta Center the "Envirocare Center"---most things have a nickname, and that would really chap their hide! I remember years ago some rich guy wanted to give a bunch of money to the U of U Medical School and rename it after himself. There was quite the public outcry. So he withdrew his money. I think if the public keeps up the outcry here and call it "the EnviroCenter" maybe Larry will get the message and withdraw the deal and give back the money. Larry Miller may think he "owns" the Delta Center, but it really is a public facility owned by the people who attend events, support it and buy tickets. If no one went to anything there, watch how fast it would shrivel up. People have more power than they think. How about a little bit of organized '60's protests down there in front of the building to let the powers that be know we don't care for Envirocare Center?! Email 10 of your friends to call it the Envirocare center and their little game of changing the name to get positive public acceptance will backfire.

Energy Solutions Arena I don't know anything about what happened with Envirocare as I am a Utah transplant. I just don't that the name is easy to say or has any flow. Maybe if it was something simpler like Energy Solutions' "Jazz Arena". So that we can shorten it to a pronounceable location, but that Energy Solutions can still have its name on it.

Energy What In addition to this buyoff, the real question is what kind of "Solution" is Creamer really after? Will ES continue to focus on bribery and kickbacks directed toward corrupt state regulators and politicians for favorable dump rulings? How much money is he going to through at Republican politicians in the form of payoffs, "contributions" and lobbying efforts? Is this going to be business as usual for ES and the Republican Party, AKA the "Government Party of Utah?

Ulterior Motives? EnergySolutions, AKA EnergyPolutions, isn't "dumping" millions of dollars into Larry Miller's pocket for nothing. What are their ulterior motives? What do they expect to get out of this? Will we be subsizdizing their tax right off?

Contradictions? I'll bet everyone of you that are compaining, really enjoy driving you cars, watching TV, Lights, Microwaves, cellphones, computers with high speed internet (so you can complain more sitting on your butt), etc. But where does all that energy come from? Think about it. The real answer is everybody needs to cut back. Sure HD big screens, laptops, more than 2 kids per household & multiple cars are nice, but remember, it all comes at a cost.

Love,

Name Change Cost While riding TRAX today it occurred to me that all the signs at the TRAX stations and in the cars, as well as all the paper schedules that say "Delta Center" will have to be redone. I just went to the UTA Trax website and it still says "Delta Center" - even though the new name is already displayed on the building.

Also - the new name is longer than the old name, which will created problems utilizing the same space on the Trax signs/schedules.

I wonder what the cost will be to change all the trax signs and schedules and who will bear it?
