Deputies searching for 2-time 7-Eleven robber
May 19th, 2009 @ 3:49pm

SALT LAKE COUNTY -- Sheriff's deputies are looking for the man who robbed a 7-Eleven store early Tuesday morning. They're hoping surveillance video from the store will help identify him.

Around 2 a.m., a man armed with a knife walked in to the 7-Eleven at 900 East and 3300 South. Deputies say he went behind the register and had trouble pulling money out, so he took the entire register drawer.

The man dropped some money during his getaway. Deputies followed that money trail, which lead them to believe the man jumped in a car parked nearby.

"This person seems to be familiar with not only the operations of that 7-Eleven, in particular, but familiar with the equipment in the store," said Lt. Don Hutson, spokesman for the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Back in February, the same store was robbed. Investigators compared the surveillance video from both crimes and believe the same man is behind them. They say in both cases the robber had a knife.

Deputies also say the man may have lost some weight in the past few months, but his mannerisms are the same. The robber shuffles when he walks.

Investigators think the man may have robbed another 7-Eleven store in Salt Lake on the same day the store at 900 East and 3300 South was robbed back in February. They hope to find him before he robs another store.
