Robbery victim beaten up with his own skateboard
May 18th, 2009 @ 3:44pm

SALT LAKE CITY -- A man was robbed, beaten and knocked unconscious with his own skateboard. Salt Lake City police are now looking for the men responsible.

They don't have a motive for this attack and say they don't even know the relationship between the victim and his attackers.

It happened early Saturday morning about 1:45 in the area of 800 South and 200 East.

Police say a 21-year-old man was either walking with or riding his skateboard when he was approached by three men, possibly in their 20s with large builds, began beating him.

Salt Lake City Police spokeswoman Lara Jones said, "Suspects who then used his skateboard against him, beating him rather severely. In fact, lost consciousness at the scene, but regained consciousness before he was taken to an area hospital."

He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The suspects took the man's wallet, which contained debit and credit cards, but no cash. They hopped into a car and were last seen driving south on 200 East.

Police have a few witness descriptions, but are still looking for more information.

If you have any information on this case, call the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3000.
