Id Love to, @Brown C. - But,unfortunately, thanks to the Unions,Id rather have a car that was dependable.GM,Ford and Dodge hasnt turned out a DECENT product in over 25 years, and thats due to the unions, forcing them to pay outragous wages.Because they have to pay some inbred from Flint $45 an hour to put lugnuts on tires, they cant afford to buy quality materials.Sorry, but Toyota,Honda and Volkswagen have better quality cars.

@Fed Up With ILLEGALS!!!! - Your probably right about the union stuff. I wouldnt trade my dodge or ford for any foreigh car. And are you sure Volkswagens are good quality? you should do a little research.

You can still buy american @Fed Up With ILLEGALS!!!! - I have an american made GMC with almost 100k and I have not done a thing to it and it has been an extremely dependable truck, however I am aware of several Volkswagens that would bring shame to even the worst wrecking yards.

Just because the name isn't American, what does that mean. @first responder guy - Toyota is built in America by American labor for American purchasers. Shut down Toyota, and who looses jobs? Americans.
Think again, Sherlock.

One less Toyota @Montanan - One down, MILLIONS to go!

My daughter's car sprung a leak. It was a plastic line, exposed to the world directly under the driver's seat.
Who designs this crap?

It interesting. . . you would think manufacturers would put some kind of guard over fuel line, tanks ect. Something similar happend to me, but I was driving a Buick. I hit a small piece of diamond plate and it bounced up and punctured a hole in my gas tank. Luckily, it didn't cause a spark to ignite the fuel.

Glad no one was hurt and too bad for the loss of the vehicle.

Debris in the road... It scares me to hear these stories of things happening to people who have encounters with debris in the road. Glad it wasn't anything fatal.

CURIOUS... I just wonder how the owner is doing on making the payments?

I must say, this is the first time I have ever heard of something like "road debris" causing a fuel line to rupture enough to engulf the whole car like that!!

Sounds a little fishy... just curious, that's all.

Amazing how convenient comprehensive insurance can catch up delinquent payments and get you a new ride.

"Road debris"... @Zwise Cracker - ... is what brought down the Concorde. I can envision a scenario where something flips up hard enough to do damage to a fuel line.

That's not to say this is what happened here... anything is possible in these times when people are under financial stress. I'm just saying I can see it.

@Enova - i was driving an 89 Lincoln, i failed at avoiding a rock, it kicked up and slammed into my fuel line, and as i looked back i saw my fuel spraying out behind me, in a big old mist cloud.

luckily no one had flipped out a cigarette at that moment.

i believe that the story is completely plausible.

~guess Let me guess, the insurance pays off the car and no more car payments? Ran over something? Yeah. Right. The claim is not possible. Time to call the adjustor.

ran over something? Yea, insurance doesn't pay for that. Has to be a collision. I ran over a piece of firewood once and they didn't care about the two wheels that need to be replaced.

I call his bluff If he would have spent the same time and energy of faking his car burning, on a real job, he would have cash money in his pocket like a pimp. Oooh yea. Throw him in a 5x6 jail cell, with a inmate named Sweet Bubba Suzie. Why should I pay for his stupidity in my insurance premium. The insurance company better fight this one to make an example of insurance fraud.

@Nate L. - I agree if it was insurance fraud why would it be in the middle of the road? or is that all part of the master plan!
