HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) -- The Herriman City Council is urging Utah officials not to use tolls to pay for highway construction along the Mountain View Corridor.
The city is joining a growing list of municipalities in opposing the funding mechanism.
A two-page Herriman statement says the council supports the corridor project, but believes tolls would create a financial burden for residents. The resolution asks that Utah lawmakers and the Salt Lake County Council also oppose tolls.
The corridor runs from west Salt Lake City and runs south to Lehi in northern Utah County.
About $650 million is needed for the first 10 miles, but so far only about $230 million has been appropriated by the state.
