(KSL News) Salt Lake County Undersheriff Beau Babka has resigned from his job.

The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office said Babka has been released from his duties. Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Paul Jaroscak told the Salt Lake Tribune that Babka resigned because of a management decision to go in another direction.

Babka is a former chief of the South Salt Lake Police Department. He was among nine candidates for Sheriff of Orange County, Calif., but was not hired.
