(KSL News) The investigation into possible ethics violations by Representative Mark Walker in the State Treasurer's race gets underway tomorrow morning.
Walker will appear before the House Ethics Committee on allegations he offered his opponent, Richard Ellis, a job and hefty pay raise in exchange for his withdrawal from the race.
It's the first such meeting in a decade but will be closed to the public, under Legislative rules. Critics say those rules violate the state's open meetings laws and typically end up leaning in favor of the lawmaker.
A separate criminal probe is also underway. If Walker is found guilty, he could face a misdemeanor charge of promising to appoint to office.
