Tom Callan reportingAfter stonewalling KSL Newsradio for two days, Utah's lieutenant governor breaks his silence about his decision not to investigate charges of bribery in the state treasurer's race.
Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert is the state's top elections officer. He says he fears he will tilt the election results if he opens an investigation.
Two Republicans, Mark Walker and Richard Ellis, hope to win the June 24 primary for state treasurer.
"I'm concerned about all aspects of this. I'm trying to do what's right and fair based on the law," Herbert said.
Ellis charges that Walker offered to keep him in his current job as deputy state treasurer if he dropped out of the race.
