Tom Callan reportingA candidate for state treasurer says he may go to court to force the lieutenant governor to investigate allegations of bribery.

Richard Ellis, who claims that he was offered a job to drop out of the race, tells the Deseret News that he may go to court to force Lt. Governor Gary Herbert to investigate his GOP challenger Mark Walker.

For a second consecutive day, the lieutenant governor's chief of staff said Herbert would not answer any questions about the alleged bribery.

The Utah Attorney General's Office says if there is an investigation, they might refer the case to either a special prosecutor or county attorney.

The lieutenant governor is the state's top elections officer. Part of his job is monitoring election fairness.
