Correction: Information provided on April 1 by Utah Highway Patrol corrected previous reports that George Frazier was driving the Envoy. Additionally, Margaret Frazier was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The information below has been corrected to reflect the findings of further investigation by UHP. COALVILLE — A man was killed after a 2-car accident on I-80 near the Coalville Interchange, UHP said.

At about 6:25 p.m., a white 2000 GMC Envoy was traveling eastbound in the far right lane, partially in the emergency lane, moving much slower than freeway speeds because of reported mechanical problems, UHP reported. A white 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 came up behind the Envoy traveling at freeway speeds and rear-ended the Envoy.

The car veered off the road to the right, ejecting the male passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, UHP said. He died at the scene.

UHP identified the man as 71-year-old George O. Frazier of Woodruff, Utah.

The driver of the Envoy was critically injured and was taken to the University of Utah hospital via ambulance. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Ram was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, UHP said.

The crash occurred about one-half mile before the Coalville exit when traveling eastbound. I-80 eastbound has been closed since the time of the incident and was still closed as of 9 p.m. No information about when the road would reopen was available Thursday night.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
