Mary Richards reporting More elementary school students in Salt Lake are doing yoga at school and loving it.
You'd never think 22 wiggly, giggly third-graders could be quiet, but it happens all the time at Horizon Elementary School in Murray when they practice their yoga with instructor Lisa Smiley.
"The kids love it. The teachers love it because their kids are more calm and focused," Smiley said.
For one pose they relax their backs like a cow then do the downward dog. What's their favorite pose? "I really like the backbend. It's fun," one student said.
Smiley started guest-teaching the P.E. segment at Horizon, and word spread. Now she's training other instructors.
