WEST VALLEY CITY — A man was killed after a crash involving two cars that collided then spun into a city bus, according to police.

West Valley City police identified the man who was killed as 84-year-old Davey Lee Burton from Taylorsville.

Lt. Matt Elson with WVC police said a red car was traveling westbound on 4100 South and a white Honda Civic was traveling northbound on 2200 West when they "collided in the intersection, then they both spun out into a bus."

Lt. Roxeanne Vainuku said the westbound car ran a red light and struck the white car on the passenger side, right where Burton was sitting

The white car where Burton was a passenger was driven by a 58-year-old male. The driver had serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, Elson said. Burton was in extremely critical condition at the scene and was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The westbound car was being driven by an 18-year-old woman. Three juveniles were passengers in the car, Elson said.

"They sustained some minor bumps and bruising and a few cuts," Elson said. "A couple of the juveniles were later transported to the hospital just to be checked out, but they are in good condition."

There were "several passengers" on the bus, but no one was injured, Elson said.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash, Elson said.

More information will be posted when it becomes available.
