VERNAL — Uintah County search and rescue crews found the body of woman in the Horseshoe Bend area of the Green River Sunday after she went missing while fishing Saturday.

The woman's body was found about a third of a mile from where it's believed she went into the river, according to Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen. There is still no indication of foul play. The woman's name has not been released.

The woman was originally fishing with her husband, but he later went downstream about 50 to 100 yards. When he returned he couldn't locate her, according Laursen.

Officers searched for the woman beginning at about 9 p.m. Saturday night without success, but they did find a location where they believe the bank may have collapsed, causing the woman to fall in the river, Laursen said.

The woman's jacket, shoes and chair were recovered. Laursen said there is no indication of foul play at this time.

Laursen added that they are not sure she fell in the river, but that it does seem likely.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
