AMERICAN FORK — An elderly woman crashed into the front of a salon Wednesday afternoon after mistaking the accelerator for the brake pedal, the American Fork Fire Department said.

Around 12:30 p.m., a woman was pulling into a parking spot in front of Beautilicious Salon at 648 E. State in American Fork when she mixed up the pedals and crashed the sedan she was driving into the front waiting area of the salon, Capt. Leif Nelson said.

Nobody was harmed in the salon, though it damaged the front windows and door of the building.

The driver was unharmed in the crash, Nelson said.

“We got extremely lucky. The potential was there for it to be really terrible,” he said.

The car was towed from the premises.
