SPANISH FORK — Tragedy was avoided when a car crashed onto railroad tracks in front of an oncoming train.

According to Utah Highway Patrol, the car crashed and rolled onto the tracks near mile post 196 in Spanish Fork Canyon around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Three people inside the car were injured in the crash, but they managed to get out of the vehicle just before the train hit it.

All three people were taken to a hospital but are expected to recover.
