DIAMOND FORK CANYON — A man was found dead in a small tent in Diamond Fork Canyon on Saturday, police said.

Police received a report at 3:13 p.m. Saturday from a man who had been camping up the canyon near another camper. According to a press release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, the man told dispatch that he last saw the camper on the morning of June 11, and an unusual odor led him to believe the camper was deceased.

Utah County Sheriff’s Office deputies checked the tent and verified the man in the tent was deceased. Officials said there was no obvious cause of death, but believe the death might be related to a medical condition based on the evidence at the scene.

Investigators believe they have identified the deceased man. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, but officials said the man is approximately 62 years old.
