SALT LAKE CITY — Republican incumbents in three of Utah's four congressional districts face challenges from within their party this year.
But no GOP candidates stepped up to run against appointed Attorney General Sean Reyes before Thursday's filing deadline. In addition to those offices, dozens of hopefuls filed to run for Utah House, Utah Senate and state school board.
Candidates for all those race are listed on the state website www.elections.utah.gov.
The Republican and Democratic parties will pick nominees at state conventions on April 26.
Freshman Rep. Chris Stewart has three Republican challengers in the 2nd Congressional District. State Sen. Luz Robles is the Democratic candidate.
In the 3rd District, Rep. Jason Chaffetz faces two challengers in the GOP, while Rep. Rob Bishop has one in the 1st District.
Democrat Donna McAleer, who ran in 2012, is back to face Bishop. Salt Lake City resident Brian Wonnacott is the Democratic candidate facing Chaffetz.
Three Republicans — Bob Fuehr, Jennifer A. Johnson and Mia Love — are running for the 4th District seat held by seven-term Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson, who is not seeking re-election. Doug Owens is the Democratic candidate.
