SALT LAKE CITY — One of Salt Lake City's deputy police chiefs has been on paid administrative leave since November.
Department spokeswoman Lara Jones said that Chief Chris Burbank confirmed that Deputy Chief Rick Findlay was placed on paid administrative leave on Nov. 8 after an allegation was made that he violated the city's harassment policy.
Because the issue was considered a human resources problem, Jones said, the police department cannot say anything more about the issue other than that it was being handled according to policy.
Salt Lake City's harassment policy states: "Salt Lake City Corporation is committed to maintaining a work environment free of discrimination and harassment based on a person's sex (including gender harassment, harassment due to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical condition), race, color, age, religion, disability, ancestry, or national origin, consistent with applicable laws."
The Salt Lake City Police Department has seven deputy chiefs. Findlay is head of the investigative bureau that oversees most of the major crimes in the city.
