ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — A group of St. George residents is suing the owners of a drug rehabilitation center, claiming their property values have taken a hit since it recently opened in their neighborhood.

The $1 million-plus complaint, filed last week in 5th District Court, alleges the owners of Steps Recovery Center of St. George LLC owe at least 14 plaintiffs for damages stemming from an estimated decrease in property values ranging from 2 percent to 10 percent.

The Spectrum of St. George reports owners Michael and Jill Jorgensen were named as defendants, along with the company and other investors.

Employees say Michael Jorgensen, who also is the company CEO, was out of the country and unavailable for comment until Monday.

The treatment center, with room to serve eight patients, opened in January on a five-acre property.
