OGDEN – Weber State University will host its first TEDx Talk at the end of February.
On Feb. 28, WSU President Charles A Wight and X96 personality Bill Allred, along with several professors and interns, will speak at the event. The event, organized by the WSU Teaching and Learning Forum, is a way to bring the community, faculty and students at WSU together.
“It reflects who we are and opens the door for us to participate in a number of similar events in the future,” said Ryan Thomas, WSU associate provost and dean of undergraduate studies.
TEDx Talks are an independently organized part of the non-profit TED Talks that bring together industry and societal leaders for short talks.
Tickets for the event are no longer available, but the talks will be streaming live on campus as well as online. The event will be archived on TEDxTalks.ted.com.
The first session of the event will begin at 10 a.m., during which Wight, WSU physics professor Adam Johnston, assistant professional sales professor Tim Border and three interns will speak.
After a break for lunch, the 1 p.m. session will feature physics professors Stacy Palen, assistant communication professor Sarah Steimel and Allred. It will go until 2:30 p.m.
