CEDAR CITY – Six people were arrested early Wednesday morning after leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle, deputies say.

Around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday, an Iron County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a white Dodge truck on I-15 for failing to maintain a single lane on the interstate. The truck instead sped away from the deputy, according to the officer.

The deputy began pursuing the truck, at times exceeding 100 mph. The Cedar City Police Department, Utah Highway Patrol and Washington County Sheriff’s Department assisted Iron County in the pursuit, deploying spikes north of the Toquerville, Utah, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office said.

Approximately four miles after the front two tires of the truck were punctured by the spikes, the truck stopped near the Toquerville exit. Three individuals in the truck were taken into custody at that time. Two shotguns were found in the truck, which was stolen in West Valley City, the sheriff’s office said.

Before officers arrived on scene, the three other people in the vehicle fled west into the hills. Officers, K9 units and a UHP helicopter were used to track down the individuals. They were found around 7:30 a.m. near the Toquerville mines and taken into custody.

Four of the individuals arrested were booked into the juvenile detention center. Two adults were booked into the Iron County Jail.
