DAVIS COUNTY — Wet road conditions contributed to a car accident on northbound I-15 near Kaysville Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Utah Highway Patrol said a white Honda Civic was traveling in the HOV lane on I-15 just north of the 200 North exit in Kaysville when it lost control on the wet road and slammed into the concrete median. The impact sent the Civic back into traffic, where it slid under the carriage of a semitruck.
The Highway Patrol said the driver, a 38-year-old female, was taken via ambulance to Ogden Regional Medical Center in serious condition with head trauma. The front passenger was a 16-year old female. She was transported to Ogden Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The back left passenger, a 20-year-old male, was transported by helicopter to McKay-Dee Hospital in very serious condition with head trauma.
Police said they believe none of the passengers in the Civic were wearing their seat belts. The roads were wet, and the weather conditions are thought to be a major factor in the accident. All but one lane of northbound I-15 was closed for 45 minutes following the crash.
