SALT LAKE CITY – The Tour of Utah has announced its route, including an expansion into Wyoming, for the August 2014 race.

For the first time in the 10-year history, the Tour of Utah will cross state borders. The fifth stage of the race will start in Evanston, Wyo., and finish in Summit County’s Kamas. This will also be the longest tour, lasting seven days. Last year, the race expanded to Southern Utah, and the race will begin in Cedar City Aug. 4.

”Each year the Tour of Utah has the opportunity to break new ground by showcasing the sport to different parts of the state, and our selection of host cities and venues in 2014 is no exception,” said Steve Miller, president of Miller Sports Properties. “The addition of a seventh day of racing allows us to expand to new territories like Powder Mountain and Evanston, Wyo., as well as build upon the tremendous racing we experienced in Southern Utah last year and our traditional finish in Park City.”

The race has already garnered international support and attention. In previous years it has been called "America's Toughest Stage Race." The Tour of Utah racers will travel more than 600 miles and climb more than 38,000 feet, according to the tour.

Six teams have already confirmed for the race, including Jelly Belly presented by Maxxis. Five ProTeams, Belkin-Pro Cycling Team, BMC Racing Team, Team Garmin-Sharp, ORICA GreenEDGE and Trek Factory Racing have also confirmed.
