WEST JORDAN — The two people who died Saturday after being found unconscious, apparently from carbon monoxide poisoning, have been identified.
Jose Lito Solorzano and Maria Lopez-Ladaverde were cleaning carpets in a home at 6057 S. Miners Mesa Drive (6220 West) when they were found unconscious by firefighters at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The pair were in a “life threatening” situation when crews arrived, according to West Jordan police officer Randy Anglesday. They were taken to Jordan Valley Hospital, but both later died.
Anglesday said the pair had pulled their carpet cleaning van into the garage of the home and shut the garage door.
“It appears that there wasn’t enough ventilation and the carbon monoxide levels were high in the home,” Anglesday said. “It was a lethal amount of carbon monoxide in the home.”
Anglesday said the investigation is ongoing as they wait for toxicology reports.
“There doesn’t seem to be any foul play or criminal intent,” Anglesday said.
