SAN DIEGO — Police are still searching for the killer in connection with the murder of a man and woman who were shot and killed in a mall parking lot in San Diego. The two had ties to Utah and police are now distributing flyers around Provo.

Salvatore Belvedere was shot and killed along with his brother's fiance, Iiona Flint on Dec. 24. Gianni Belvedere has since disappeared. Now Provo police are distributing flyers of Gianni Belvedere in Provo to aid in the search. They are calling him a missing person.

Salvatore Belvedere and Iiona Flint were both shot in the head in a mall parking lot. Flint died at the scene after calling 911, and Salvatore died two days later. Police said suspicion is growing due to the fact that no one has seen or heard from Gianni Belvedere since the incident.

"(Gianni) does have ties to the Provo area," Provo Police Department Lt. Mathew Siufanua said. "He has friends, family he could reach out to and so it makes sense for them to give us a call to assist them in that effort."

Salvatore Belvedere, Gianni and Flint all attended high school in Utah County.

"We have actually reached out to all of our patrol officers, given them a good description of Belvedere and his car," Siufanua said. "We have also put an attempt to locate out on him in the area as well."

While it would seem that Belvedere is being considered a person of interest by San Diego police, Provo police said they are only trying to find him.

"He is a missing person and that is how we are treating this case," Siufanua said. "But the thing that makes this different is that his fiance and brother were murdered and so if you know where he is, if you have heard from him, give us a call so we can talk to him and get more information in regard to this case."

Belvedere's family has plead for Gianni Belvedere to contact them so they can begin to find answers about what happened on Christmas Eve.

"I think this is a case that needs to be resolved," Siufanua said. "I think this individuals needs to be found and San Diego Police Department needs to speak to him. And so if the public can help us, we would love and appreciate their help."

The funeral for Iiona Flint was held in Utah County on Friday.
