ENOCH, Iron County — A woman wanted for theft in California was arrested following a short police chase in Iron County.

Enoch police received word of a pickup truck driving on Midvalley Road in the wrong lane, without headlights on, Wednesday around 6:15 p.m., according to Sgt. Mike Berg of the Enoch Police Department. Officers spotted the truck and tried to pull it over, but the driver led police on a short chase instead.

The pursuit ended when the fleeing truck crashed into a power pole at 3550 West and Midvalley Road. The woman driving was arrested and taken to Valley View Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.

Officers discovered the woman was listed as missing out of California and then learned she was wanted for theft. They found more than $60,000 in the vehicle, according to Berg. Investigators believe the money was stolen.

Melinda Gotti, 37, of Glendora, Calif., was booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility for investigation of DUI, driving on revocation, failure to stop at a stop sign, attempting to evade police and failure to drive on the right side of the road.

The investigation is ongoing.
