SALT LAKE CITY — The Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert is a big tradition during the holidays — the star of the show is of course the choir, but each year guest artists bring a unique flavor to the concerts.

This year an opera star and a familiar face in some very popular movies will give the audience a night to remember.

A well-known soprano around the world, Deborah Voigt is still taking in what it's like to perform in the Conference Center, after last night's dress rehearsal.

"It was a little bit overwhelming to walk out and see this enormous hall of people, but what was really outstanding was to see how well everything went," Voigt said.

For Voigt, performing with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir during the Christmas season is personally rewarding.

"I don't often have the chance to be on stage and talk about and sing about the real meaning of Christmas, and to me, being someone who was raised in a Christian household, that is a really a blessing and something unique in my life," she said.

Known for his roles in "Indiana Jones" and "The Lord of the Rings," British actor John Rhys-Davies said he doesn't want to be a narrator, but a storyteller.

"In a way I feel like I am coming home and it is made a lot easier being here because you are a very warm and welcoming people," Rhys-Davies said.

From his role in telling the story of Charles Dickens and A Christmas Carol, he believes people will be delighted with the show.

"It's a very well mixed program I think; there is something in it for everybody," he said.

The Christmas concerts are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Voigt and Rhys-Davies will also accompany the choir and orchestra for the "Music and the Spoken Word" broadcast and mini-concert on Sunday.
