SALT LAKE COUNTY — A woman was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident and another man was critically injured in a second auto-pedestrian accident where police are still searching for the driver.

A woman died after being hit by a Comcast utility truck while she was crossing a crosswalk Monday evening.

A woman was crossing the street at 2940 E. 3300 South around 6 p.m. with her friend when she was struck by a Comcast utility truck, according to Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal. The utility truck was traveling eastbound at the time of the accident.

The woman was later identified as Linda Olson, 64, from Millcreek. Olson was transported to an area hospital where she died from sustained injuries.

The other woman was not injured during the incident.

The 3300 South Eastbound road will be closed for several hours during the investigation of the accident, Hoyal said.

Police are also searching for a driver who fled after hitting a 65-year-old man as he was crossing the street in a separate auto-pedestrian accident.

The man was walking near 1000 West and 1700 South when he was struck about 6:50 p.m. by a silver car, Salt Lake City Police Lt. Carl Merino said. Police believe the man was knocked up on top of the car and carried about 75 feet before he fell off and the driver fled.

The man was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing, Merino said.

The man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition with head and neck injuries, Merino said. His name was not immediately released.

Meanwhile, Merino said police know little about the car or its driver, though the vehicle likely has damage to the windshield and hood and is missing the passenger mirror following the crash.

Anyone with information about the car is asked to call Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000.
