PARK CITY — A deadly avalanche from five years ago is being relived in a Summit County courtroom this week.
Jesse Williams, 30, was killed in December 2007 at The Canyons resort. The slide happened in-bounds, south of the Square Top peak a day after ski patrol crews detonated explosives in the area, according to the Park Record.
Williams' wife and mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit months later against Talisker, Wolf Mountain Resorts, and the American Skiing Company. Over the years, most of the parties were dismissed along the way except for ASC Utah, doing business as The Canyons.
Arguments are expected to conclude early this week in 3rd District Court, then the jury will decide.
The slide was 175 feet wide and between three and five feet deep.
Williams was visiting Utah from Grand Junction, Colo., when he died.
